These are the fundamental points of the French bill of patients’ rights.
- Anyone is free to choose the hospital they want to go to, provided there are enough rooms available. The hospital public service is here for everyone, more particularly for destitute or disabled people.
- Hospitals certify the quality of treatment and reception and they try to allay pain.
- Medical action can’t be practised without the mindful approval of the patient.
- The information given to the patient must be accessible and staunch. The patient takes part in the therapeutic options offered to them.
- The patient must be respected. Their faith and intimacy are respected too.
- The respect for private life is guaranteed, and so are the confidentiality of their personal medical or social information.
- The patient can leave the hospital when they want after being informed about the danger for their health.
- The patient can ask a doctor to read their medical case file.
- The patient can tell their feelings about the treatment and the reception. They can ask for damages if they have suffered from inconveniences.
For a good hospitalization, everyone must respect the others
- Use television and radio with discretion.
- Avoid speaking too loud; be calm and quiet
- Be polite
- Don’t smoke , don’t bring drugs, alcoholic drinks, flowers, medicines or food
