Let’s learn a little bit of history…

The Belle-Isle hospital is a private charity establishment.

It contributes to the hospital public service and is also part of the FEHAP (Federation of non-profit-making hospitals and private assistance).

Of protestant origin, it was built in 1884 when the Germans annexed the Moselle.
It is only in 1919, when the Germans’ occupation ended that the hospital complex was finally named "Belle-Isle Hospital".

Since then, the hospital has modernized and specialized :
  • 1970: creation of a medical analysis laboratory
  • 1972: construction and opening of the center of medical rehabilitation and the intensive care unit
  • 1997: creation of an ambulatory service of surgery
  • 2002: modernization and inauguration of the medical rehabilitation center called "Emile Frantz readjustment center”, in honor of the doctor surgeon and administrator of the hospital at the beginning of the 20th century.
The Belle-Isle hospital forms an integral part of Metz’s hospital landscape.

They are accredited, which means that they meet national requirements. They also propose a modern, dynamic and effective hospital service.

To complete the list of public service hospitals in the Metz region, the hospital collaborates with the regional agency of hospitalization (ARH) and has various partnerships with other hospitals in the area.
